How I killed Armed Robber - Onyema Obinna (Danfo Driver)
A commercial driver, Mr. Onyema Obinna has narrated to the police how he managed to kill one of the two armed robbers who waylaid him and collected his N10, 000.
He was driving along Ronik Road, Ejigbo Area of Lagos when the two robbers on motorcycle trailed him and took his money at gun point.
The 54-year-old driver said that the robbers had earlier robbed a lady before descended on him but when they left the scene of the robbery, he trailed them with his bus.
According to Onyema, as soon as the robbers sensed that they were being trailed, they increased the speed of their motorbike.
“My intention was to follow them to where I could alert the police to apprehend them but while they were about to escape by taking one way, I rammed on them. One of them died and the other seriously injured,” he said.
Onyema called the attention of some members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC who were operating as guards in the area to help him.
The OPC moved to the scene where they recovered some weapons from the injured robber. Among what they recovered were locally made guns, machete and knives.
The driver was able to get his N10, 000 while the lady they robbed also came to the scene to collect her undisclosed sum of money.
Confessing the injured suspect who identified himself as Lukman Jamiu, said he took to robbery so save her wife’s life who is currently on hospital bed.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni said that the surviving suspect would be charged to court soon.
