ARMED ROBBERS KILLED TWO UNDERGRADUATES ‘Joy Ihezie, Faith Okeke’ OF IMO STATE UNIVERSITY (IMSU) OWERRI


The death has been announced of two students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, of the Imo State University, (IMSU) Owerri following an attack by armed robbers.
The aura around the school has been one of gloom and mourning as the news filtered in that two students had died on their way to a medical national conference in Jos.
The late students have been identified as Joy Ihezie a 400 level student of the faculty and Faith Okeke a 200 level student.
The students were in the company of their colleagues on their way to a national conference of the National Fellowship of Christian Medical Laboratory Science Students when they ran into a robbery scene on the Kaduna/Jos road.
The bus was said to be very close to its destination, just about 3 kilometres away when they ran into the ambush around Maraba junction.
The robbers reportedly fired at the bus as the driver made to escape from the scene of the ongoing robbery.
Both students died on the spot while some others sustained injuries.
Mr. Ralph Njokuobi, spokesperson for IMSU stated that those who were injured are responding to treatment.
